Cookie Policy for Itefy
Short version: this website sets no cookies at all, and we use no third-party tracking. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to ask you to consent to.
We build equipment management software, and our customers trust us with records of what they own and who is using it. Treating data carefully is part of the product, so it would be odd to run the marketing site any other way. This page explains exactly what we do and do not store on your device.
No third-party cookies
We deliberately do not use advertising networks, social media plugins, session recorders or third-party analytics on this website. That is a choice, not an oversight: each of those would mean handing your browsing behaviour to another company, and letting them build a profile of you across every site that embeds the same tag. We would rather have less data than obtain it that way.
This also means we do not need a consent banner. Consent is required when a site stores or reads information on your device beyond what is strictly necessary. We do not, so there is nothing to ask.
How we measure visits without cookies
We still want to know which pages are useful and where visitors come from, so we run Plausible Analytics — an open-source, privacy-focused analytics tool that we host ourselves rather than using a hosted third-party service. It is designed to work without identifying anyone:
- It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device.
- It does not collect personal data, and does not track you across other websites.
- It does not store or log your IP address. To count returning visits within a single day it uses a one-way hash that includes a secret that is discarded and regenerated every 24 hours, which makes it impossible to link visits back to you or across days.
- All measurement data stays on our own servers in Germany, inside the EU/EEA. It is never sent to a third-party analytics company, and never sold, shared or used for advertising.
What we see is aggregate: page views per page, which site or search engine referred a visit, rough country, and broad device or browser type. Enough to improve the site, not enough to identify you.
Cookies in the Itefy application
The web application at app.itefy.com is a different matter, because signing in genuinely requires remembering that you are signed in. When you log in we set a small number of cookies that are strictly necessary for the service to work:
- Session and sign-in cookies — so you stay logged in as you move between pages, instead of re-entering your password on every screen. These are cleared when you sign out.
- Preference cookies — remembering choices you have made in the interface so the app behaves consistently for you.
These are set by us, are used only to deliver the service you asked for, and are not used for advertising or profiling. Because they are strictly necessary, they do not require consent — but they also only ever appear once you actually use the application.
Controlling cookies in your browser
You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings; your browser's help pages explain how. Doing so will not affect this website, since it sets none. It will, however, prevent you from staying signed in to the Itefy application, because the sign-in cookie is what keeps your session alive.
Changes to this policy
If we ever introduce something that stores information on your device beyond the strictly necessary, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before it runs.
