Compare Itefy
Honest comparisons with the tools people weigh us against — including the cases where the other one is the better buy.
Different tools, different jobs
Most equipment software is built around one of three jobs: keeping a register of what you own, counting stock, or renting things out to customers. Itefy is built around a fourth — equipment that gets booked, borrowed and maintained by your own team.
Which means we are genuinely the wrong answer to some of these comparisons, and each page below says where. We have used some of these products and only read about others; every page states which, and every price is dated, because they change.
| Product | Built around | Entry price | Booking calendar | Maintenance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AssetTiger | A fixed-asset register | $20/mo — 500 assets, unlimited users | One per asset | Records with status and recurrence |
| Cheqroom | The same booking loop as Itefy | $184/admin/mo, annual only | Shared, with calendar sync | A paid add-on |
| Sortly | Inventory and stock | $49/mo list — checkout from $149 | Not available | Date reminders only |
| EZOfficeInventory | An enterprise asset platform | From $44.75/mo — 100 items | Premium tier | Premium, plus a CMMS add-on |
| Snipe-IT | An IT asset register | $0 self-hosted — hosting from $399/yr | No booking construct at all | Records, but no recurrence |
| Asset Panda | Compliance and audit at scale | Quote only — no published prices | Reservations with approvals | Scheduling, tickets, inspections |
| WebCheckout | The university equipment cage | Quote only — no published prices | Shared, with a patron portal | Pro tier and above |
| Fleetio | Vehicle fleets and their maintenance | $4–10/vehicle/mo + tools add-on | Not listed for tools; Motor Pool (vehicles) on Premium | Deep for vehicles — work orders, parts, labour |
| Itefy | Equipment that gets booked and maintained | $15/mo — 500 items, 3 users | Shared, on every plan | Included on every plan |
Prices as published by each vendor and checked in July 2026, on yearly billing where offered. They change — each comparison page shows the working, and you should check both vendors’ own pricing pages before deciding. Cheqroom’s figure is per administrator and excludes an unpublished minimum; EZOfficeInventory’s rises with the number of items you track.

Each one covers what the other product does well, what it costs at your size, and how to tell which of you it is for.
AssetTiger
A capable asset register with unlimited users and unusually deep configurability. It does book equipment — what it lacks is one calendar across your gear, and a way for borrowers to book for themselves.
- Pick AssetTiger if
- You need a fixed-asset register, or you have more than three or four people and price decides it.
- Pick Itefy if
- Several people need to see one calendar and book their own equipment.
Cheqroom
The same booking-and-checkout loop, minus per-admin pricing. Well liked by its users — and one admin licence costs more per year than our entire top plan.
- Pick Cheqroom if
- You need SAML single sign-on, RFID or calendar sync, and the budget exists.
- Pick Itefy if
- A per-admin licence costs more than your whole software budget.
Sortly
A well-made inventory app with a free tier and a very good mobile app. Shared equipment asks harder questions — who has it, when is it back, when was it serviced.
- Pick Sortly if
- You are counting supplies and consumables, and nobody books anything ahead.
- Pick Itefy if
- Gear leaves the shelf, gets booked, and needs servicing.
EZOfficeInventory
A powerful enterprise platform priced per tracked item, with RFID, GPS and security certifications we don’t have — and the availability calendar on a higher tier.
- Pick EZOfficeInventory if
- You need RFID or GPS, SOC 2 / ISO 27001, or you have many users and few assets.
- Pick Itefy if
- You have more equipment than people, and want the core without a configuration project.
Snipe-IT
Free, open source and good at tracking IT assets. We installed it: there is no way to book equipment for a future date, and no recurring maintenance schedule.
- Pick Snipe-IT if
- You track laptops and licences, can run a server, and free is the deciding factor.
- Pick Itefy if
- People need to reserve equipment for a date in the future.
Asset Panda
A compliance-led platform with certifications and integrations we don’t have. Sold by demo and quote — the comparison is about how you buy, not what it does.
- Pick Asset Panda if
- You need SOC 2 or HIPAA, inspection checklists, or ITSM integrations.
- Pick Itefy if
- You want to see the price and start today, without a demo.
WebCheckout
The closest match to Itefy’s job of anything here — and built for a university equipment cage, with enrolment gating, late fines and room booking.
- Pick WebCheckout if
- You run a campus cage, gate lending on enrolment, or book rooms too.
- Pick Itefy if
- You are one department, a studio or a makerspace — not an institution.
Fleetio
Excellent fleet software, priced per vehicle — with equipment as a paid add-on that requires the fleet product. The comparison is about which of the two jobs is yours.
- Pick Fleetio if
- Vehicles are the operation: fuel, telematics, inspections and work orders.
- Pick Itefy if
- Equipment is the point, and people need to book and check it out.
Excel & Google Sheets
Where most equipment lists start — and where most of them quietly fail. What a spreadsheet can and can’t do as a process.
- Pick Excel & Google Sheets if
- One person tracks a short list that rarely moves, and it is working.
- Pick Itefy if
- More than one person needs the truth at the same time.
How we write these
Comparison pages have a reputation, and it is deserved. Ours try to earn the opposite one, so here is the standard we hold them to.
We say how we know
Every page states whether we have actually used the product or only read its documentation. Where we tested something, we say when, on which plan, and what we did.
We say where they win
Each page has a section on what the other product does better — including, on more than one of them, that it is cheaper than us at most team sizes.
We date everything
Prices and features move. Every figure carries the month it was checked, and points at the vendor’s own pricing page rather than asking you to trust ours.
We correct them
We have had to. The AssetTiger page once claimed they had no reservations; they do, we were wrong, and the page now says so in its own words. Found something else? Tell us.
