Add users

Users in Itefy are managed by going to Settings in the main menu, then selecting Users.

Click Add user, enter the person's email address and — optionally — a message to include in the invitation. Then click Add user.

That's all you need. You don't enter their name: the person fills that in themselves, so it is spelled the way they want it, and someone who already uses Itefy simply keeps the name they already have.

What happens next depends on whether the person already is an Itefy user or not.

The person is already a (verified) Itefy user

If the person already is signed up and has access to Itefy with the email address you've entered, then the person will immediately be given access to your account. The person will receive an email notification (automatically sent from Itefy) saying the person has been added to your account. When logging into Itefy, the person is now able to select your Itefy account.

The person is not an Itefy user

If the person does not already have access to Itefy, an email will be sent to the person's email address. This email contains a one-time link that the person has to click to confirm their email address. The link opens a page where they enter their name and choose a password. Once they click Activate my account they're signed straight in and can see your account in their account list, with access through both the web app and the mobile app.

Until they do that they appear in the user list as Pending, listed by the email address you invited them at.

The link works once, and expires 30 days after it was sent. If it has expired, the person is told to ask you for a new one — see resending below.

If the email address you added is a Google account, the person can skip that email entirely: they can go straight to the sign-in page and click Continue with Google. Signing in that way verifies their address and gives them access to your account, with no password to set.

What if the person is not receiving the email?

Emails sent from Itefy should be received within a maximum of 1-2 minutes. If not received, the most common reason is that it's handled as spam, either by the receiving email server or the person's email client.

To resolve, the new user should check the spam folder in the email client to see if the email is there. Tell them to look for "⟨your name⟩ invited you to ⟨account⟩ in Itefy" — the subject names you, so it is easy to spot and easy to recognise as genuine. If it isn't in spam either, please check with your mail server administrator to see if there are any emails from Itefy there.

You may try resending the verification email by clicking the refresh icon next to the user's Pending badge in the user list. This will automatically resend the verification link to the user (if e.g. the user accidentally deleted the previous email, or the link expired — resending gives them another 30 days).

If none of the solutions work, please contact us so that we can verify the new users manually.
