Move an item

Open the item and tap Move. Pick where it is now.

The picker shows the account's locations as a hierarchy — site, building, room, shelf — with an icon for each kind, so Shelf 1 in two different rooms is never ambiguous. Search matches the name and the path above it.

Current and home

An item has two locations, and they answer different questions:

• Current — where it is right now. This is what Move changes.
• Home — where it lives when it is not in use. Set on the item, and used by check-in to put things back.

Both are shown on the item's Info tab.

Moving several at once

Checking equipment in can move everything on the checkout in one go — back to each item's own home, or all to one place. See Check equipment in. That is almost always faster than moving things one at a time.

Who is told

Moving an item notifies whoever is responsible for it. Moves made as part of a check-in deliberately do not — returning a case of twenty things is one action.

Permission

Recording location is the Location permission. Without it the Move button is not shown.
