Add an item ​

Registering equipment used to mean going back to a desk. It does not any more: Home → Add an item, or + on the items list.

Adding an item.

The short version ​

A photo and a name is the whole required path. Everything else can wait, and most of it is easier to fill in later at a keyboard.

The camera opens first, because you are standing in front of the thing.

What you can add now ​

  • Name — required
  • Unique ID — your own number, if you use one
  • Type and Location
  • Purchase information — date, price, expected lifespan
  • Inventory — for consumables, the stock you are starting with and its unit

After saving ​

The app offers what usually comes next:

  • Assign QR — stick a label on it and scan the label, and the two are joined
  • Add another — for a box of ten identical things
  • Open — go to the item you just made

What has to happen in the web app ​

Bulk import from a spreadsheet, and adding many items at once from one template, are web app jobs.
