Change condition
Open the item and tap Condition. Choose the new condition and, if it helps, write a remark saying why.
What each one means
| Condition | What it means | Can it be used? |
|---|---|---|
| Operative | Working | Yes |
| Needs attention | Working, but something is wrong | Yes |
| Inoperative | Out of service | No |
| Discarded | Gone for good | No |
Inoperative stops bookings and checkouts
This is the part worth knowing. Marking something inoperative takes it out of circulation immediately: it cannot be checked out, and it cannot be booked.
The exception is work on the item. A booking whose kind is repair, maintenance, inspection or transport is still allowed — otherwise you could never schedule the repair for the thing you just marked broken. A checkout against such a booking is allowed for the same reason.
Bookings that already existed are left alone. Marking something inoperative does not cancel somebody's job next week; it stops new commitments.
In a kit
A broken item inside a kit does not stop the kit going out. It is left behind and the app names it, so what leaves the building is recorded accurately.
Condition, issues and remarks
A remark on a check-in is a note. An issue tracks the work. Only the condition stops the equipment going out again. Something badly broken usually wants all three.
History
Every change is recorded on the item's History tab, with who changed it, when, and any remark.
