Get started with Itefy Go

Equipment work happens in storage rooms, on job sites and in vehicles — not behind a desk. Itefy Go is the phone app: scan a label, check things out and back in, report a fault, register something new, right where you are standing.

There is nothing to download from the App Store or Google Play. It runs in your phone's browser and installs to your home screen in seconds.

By the end you will have it on your home screen and will have completed a real check-out and check-in from your phone.

Step 1 — Open it and sign in

  1. Open the browser on your phone and go to go.itefy.com.
  2. Sign in with the same email address and password you use for the web app — or tap Continue with Google if that is how your user is set up.
  3. If you belong to more than one Itefy account, choose which to open. With one, you go straight in.

You land on Home.

Home — status at the top, the things you do most underneath.

To change account later: More → Switch account.

Step 2 — Learn the one thing that matters

Look at the bottom of the screen. Five things: Home, Items, the round Scan button, Activity, More.

The round button is the camera, and it is on every screen. You do not find an item and then scan it — you scan, and the item opens. If you learn one thing today, learn that.

Step 3 — Install it on your home screen

You can keep using it from the browser. Installing gives it its own icon, full screen, and — the part that matters — push notifications.

  • Android (Chrome): tap the menu, then Install app. Itefy Go also offers to install itself, on Home and under More → your name.
  • iPhone/iPad (Safari): tap Share, scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen. This does not work from Chrome on iOS.

More detail, including how updates work: Install Itefy Go.

Step 4 — Find an item

Tap the Items tab. Everything is there, alphabetically; type in Search items… to narrow it. Tap an item to open it.

The items list.

If your equipment carries QR labels, do not search — tap the round Scan button and point the camera at one. The first time, allow the app to use the camera.

The item screen has the picture, the type, whether it is available and whether it works, one big primary action, and tabs for photos, files, its QR code and its history.

An item screen.

Step 5 — Check it out

With the item open, tap Check out. (Or start from Home → Check out, which opens the camera and takes you straight here after a scan.)

  1. Items — what you scanned. Add items for more.
  2. Name — what it is for. It is prefilled with the item's name; a real reason is worth the two seconds.
  3. Check in due — when it should be back. This is what makes something count as overdue later.
  4. Optionally On behalf of (a colleague is taking it), Location and a note.
  5. Tap Check out.
Checking an item out.

Step 6 — Check it back in

Find the item again — search it, or scan it. Its primary button now says Check in. Tap it.

  1. Everything still out is ticked. Untick anything that has not come back.
  2. Scan to verify if you want to tick items off by scanning them as they come off the van.
  3. Under Put them back, choose where the equipment goes: Usual places sends each item back to its own home location, One place sends everything to one you pick, Leave moves nothing. The line underneath says exactly what will happen.
  4. Add remarks if the return needs explaining, then Check in.
Checking in, and putting things away.
