Book items

A booking is a promise about the future: this equipment, this period. From Home → Book items, or an item's More → Create a reservation.

The form

  • ItemsAdd items for more
  • Name — the job. This is what everyone else sees in the calendar
  • From and To
  • Kind — usage, maintenance, inspection, transport, repair or other. It decides how the booking is reported on, and whether broken equipment may be booked at all
  • On behalf of, Location, Note — optional

Clashes

Items already booked in the period you chose are marked BOOKED and cannot be added.

If you change the dates after choosing items, the app re-checks and flags anything that now clashes — the "the job moved to Thursday" case, which is exactly when a clash appears out of nowhere.

Kits

Booking a kit books everything inside it.

Broken equipment

Something inoperative cannot be booked — unless the booking's kind is the work itself: repair, maintenance, inspection or transport. You can always schedule the repair for the thing you just marked broken.

Turning a booking into a checkout

When the equipment is collected, open the booking under Activity → Bookings and convert it to a checkout. The form is prefilled and still editable, and the booking is completed when you save — so it does not sit there afterwards looking unfulfilled.

A booking for maintenance or an inspection converts to an event instead, which is the record of the work being done.

What stays in the web app

Recurring bookings — every Tuesday, the first of each month — are created and edited in the web app.
